Edge Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Civil Engineering Technician to become an integral member of our Civil Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in our Prairie du Sac, WI office. You will be working in a fast- paced, ever-evolving industry assisting our Civil team with the planning, design and construction of various site development and infrastructure projects throughout the upper mid-west.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform field site reviews, project evaluations and obtain field information for project designs
- Collect field data using surveying equipment (GPS & Total Station), drone/UAS systems and traditional means
- Process field data for use in designs including development of 3D models and aerial orthophotos
- Develop plans and details for various projects using CAD (Microstation) and engineering design
- Perform construction staking and layout using surveying equipment
- Perform construction site QA/QC field visits to document work progression and review consistency with design documents
- Perform construction material sample collection and testing
- Prepare written technical field reports of observations, including photos and detailed explanations of observed conditions
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with others on project teams
- Adhere to company policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements surrounding the services provided to clients
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in meeting client commitments and deadlines with an unwavering focus on quality
- AAS degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management is required; or a minimum of 2 years experience in technical writing in an engineering or inspection environment in lieu of degree
- Strong oral and written communication skills are a must
- Excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Prior CAD and/or Civil Design software experience
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while following detailed work directions, guidelines and client specifications is required
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, while consistently performing quality work and meeting deadlines is required
- Prior survey experience is helpful, but not required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
