The Insurance Specialist will administer and maintain the collateral protection program which includes the monitoring and tracking of all collateralized loans. This Specialist will file for any possible insurance claims while working to ensure we maintain a claims loss ratio of 50% or less to control program costs. They will work closely with our vendor to ensure service level agreements are met and the program adjusts/evolves with the growth and direction of Credit Union. This position will also require working closely with members, other departments, and outside insurance companies on a regular basis.

Position Responsibilities:
Review bi-weekly premium and refund billing reports to ensure premiums/refunds are posted when appropriate to the correct member or general ledger account.
- Respond in a timely manner to all insurance/claim related inquiries.
- Determine and file all appropriate claims.
- Provide direct support to departmental staff by providing guidance on possible claims/best course of action on impaired collateralized loans.
- Work directly with insurance tracking/claim vendor to maintain and grow/develop the program to fit the Credit Union and their member’s needs.
- Review and take appropriate action on newly funded loans to ensure erroneous policies are not added.
- Use experience, knowledge, and critical thinking/analytical skills to determine when loans should be removed from tracking.
- Review and work 3rd register report to ensure the policies in the pipeline should be charged to member accounts.
- Routine review of impaired loan listing as provided by vendor.
- Weekly balancing of all collateral protection general ledger accounts
- Timely posting of any claim payments/refunds
- Cross-train and provide ancillary support to the Asset Recovery Specialist
- Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies and procedures, member financial data, personal information, and work-related events.
- Provide quality support and maintain a professional relationship with peers, management, other staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust, and respect.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
- Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power point, and various web-based applications required.
