Role Description The Director of Maintenance is a full-time, on-site role based in Prince George, VA, responsible for leading all maintenance activities across extrusion and casting operations. This role oversees maintenance teams, sets priorities, and ensures safe, reliable operation of production equipment and facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinating repairs with production leadership, and managing maintenance budgets and resources. The Director of Maintenance develops and implements maintenance standards, supports capital projects and equipment upgrades, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role also focuses on continuous improvement, training maintenance personnel, and optimizing facility performance to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading maintenance teams, setting goals, and managing performance.
- Hands-on expertise in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment, with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience in carpentry and general building maintenance to support facility upkeep and minor structural repairs.
- Proficiency in facility management (FM) and maintenance management, including preventive maintenance programs, work order systems, and vendor coordination.
- Background in manufacturing or industrial environments, preferably extrusion, casting, or metals processing.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction in maintenance and facility operations.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with operations, engineering, and senior leadership.
- Experience with CMMS or similar maintenance software; familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance is a plus.
- Relevant technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in maintenance, engineering, or industrial technology.
