Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients and employees. Your primary duties will include monitoring surveillance systems, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and enforcing security protocols.
Security Guards will be assigned to entrances of the building to monitor pedestrian traffic and to patrol the interior and exterior of the facilities. The primary functions are:
To provide physical security by conducting patrols of above listed areas, while being alert for dangerous conditions existing as a result of violations of health and safety codes or violation of Title 18 and 21 of the United States Code (U.S.C.), and VA rules and regulations governing VA grounds and buildings and reporting dangerous conditions or unlawful activity to responsible authorities.
b. When efforts to prevent crime fail, the Security Guards will notify local authorities. Once the incident is under control, the Security Guards will notify the COR (Police Operations Officer) or designee, and the Chief of VA Police (Biloxi) within 30 minutes of the incident.
c. The Security Guards are required to render courteous assistance to employees, patients, and visitors to safeguard their welfare during emergencies. The officers will assist employees, patients, and visitors with door and vehicle unlocks and/or jump starts with jump boxes. The officers are responsible to exercise leadership, control and direction during fire, storms, earthquakes or other mishaps, which threaten lives.
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S., must be 21 years of age or older, demonstrate maturity, have sound judgment, excellent character, a good work ethic, have jobcompletion skills, and be dependable, have a high school education or equivalency with two (2) years’ experience demonstrating the ability to:
• Meet and deal with the general public;
• Maintain poise and self-control under stress;
• Construct and write clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports.
• Military Service may be credited toward meeting the above requirements.
• Speak, read, and write English.
- They must be capable of reading and understanding printed regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and shall be able to compose reports in English, which convey complete information.
