Site Safety and Health Officer

SERVEXO
Jacksonville, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 6/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/18/2026

Position Summary

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing Servexo's safety program at a federal installation in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time, on-site role centered on the safety of armed and unarmed security personnel performing force protection and access control operations.

The SSHO reports directly to the Project Manager and serves as the primary safety point of contact with the government client. This is an operational safety role in a federal security environment — not a construction site. The right candidate has a background in security, law enforcement, or military safety operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) for all security personnel and field operations
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of guard posts, patrol vehicles, and access control points
  • Enforce firearms safety protocols during weapon issuance, qualification exercises, and daily storage
  • Administer the company’s Random Drug Screening Program and maintain all compliance records
  • Investigate and document all on-duty accidents, injuries, near-misses, and recordable incidents
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and coordinate with HR on workers’ compensation and return-to-work matters
  • Ensure all security personnel are current on required safety and operational training
  • Conduct monthly safety briefings and maintain documented training records for all staff
  • Serve as primary safety liaison between Servexo and the government client’s safety office
  • Prepare Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and safety inspection reports for submission to the government
  • Make all safety records and certifications available to the client upon request
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of safety program management experience in a federal security services, law enforcement, military, or corrections environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) safety standards
  • Ability to prepare Accident Prevention Plans, safety inspection reports, and incident investigation documentation
  • Comfortable working in and around an armed security personnel environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting
  • Must successfully pass a federal criminal background investigation prior to start date
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification required — Servexo will sponsor and fund enrollment for qualified candidates who do not yet hold this credential (must complete within 60 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior U.S. military service with safety-related duties: Ground Safety Officer, Unit Safety NCO/Officer, Combat Lifesaver, or equivalent DoD safety role
  • Prior experience supporting federal government security services or guard force contracts
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry card already held
  • OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technician) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
  • Experience managing drug-free workplace programs in a federal contractor environment
  • Familiarity with firearms safety protocols and armed personnel safety procedures
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field

Work Environment

  • On-site role at a federal installation in Jacksonville, FL — office and outdoor field settings
  • Outdoor inspection duties in all weather conditions, including Florida heat
  • Must be physically able to walk inspection routes and access all areas of the site
  • Must be comfortable in a uniformed, armed security environment
  • Federal installation access credentials required and maintained throughout employment
