As a Loan and Account Audit Specialist, you will play an important role in supporting the accuracy, compliance, and operational integrity of the credit union’s lending and deposit account processes. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure documentation, processes, and records are accurate and compliant. We are looking for an individual who can effectively multi-task, identify process gaps, and maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism while working independently and collaboratively with team members. From auditing consumer and mortgage loan files to monitoring collateral documentation and escrow accounts, you will help support the financial well-being of our members while protecting the credit union’s operational and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review consumer loans, mortgage loans, new credit card lines, and new deposit account files to verify all required documents, signatures, dates, and supporting information are complete and in compliance with credit union policies and procedures. Document discrepancies in the appropriate system (The Shield or designated tracking spreadsheet) and notify the responsible employee.
  • Maintain organized audit documentation and tracking to support reviews of consumer loans, mortgage loans, new credit card lines, and new deposit account files. Monitor and follow up on audit findings to ensure all issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Collaborate with the EVP/CFO and CEO to evaluate and address gaps identified through the audit process across consumer lending, mortgage lending, credit card origination, and new deposit account processes, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking all collateral to ensure the credit union’s security interest is accurate, current, and properly insured throughout the life of the loan. Coordinate with third parties, FSOs, and members to obtain and maintain required documentation and insurance coverage.
  • Initiate Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) on secured loans when required insurance documentation has not been provided, ensuring protection of the credit union’s security interest.
  • Monitor and manage title-related processes, including accepting titles, submitting and fulfilling lien requests, releasing liens, and performing ongoing title tracking to ensure accurate and timely documentation of the credit union’s security interest for all collateralized loans.
  • Process and maintain records for paid off loans and ensure proper documentation and archival in accordance with credit union procedures.
  • Maintain escrow accounts for the payment of members’ property taxes and insurance premiums, including processing tax payments, calculating shortages, adjusting monthly escrow payments, and preparing annual escrow statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain variable-rate loan products by ensuring rate changes are processed in accordance with disclosures and that all required notices are sent to members in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Compile monthly deposit and loan rate data from selected peer credit unions and deliver a Market Survey Study to the Executive Team.
  • Maintain and review HMDA data in conjunction with mortgage audits throughout the year and prepare annual HMDA files and required reporting.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Problem solver-ability to resolve and assist member complaints as they occur.

  • Familiarity with industry’s rules and regulations
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.50 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

  • Loan processing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Quality audits: 1 year (Preferred)
