Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and bulldozers using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, and hydraulic system servicing to maximize equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems including transmissions, air brake systems, electrical components, HVAC units, and diesel engines.
- Utilize power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and hand tools to assemble parts or repair damaged components on-site.
- Operate heavy machinery such as tractors-trailers and farm equipment for testing purposes or during repairs while adhering to safety protocols.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to identify issues accurately and execute precise repairs or replacements.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications while maintaining detailed service records for each job.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, heavy truck repair, diesel mechanics, and vehicle systems maintenance.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking for custom repairs or modifications.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance apparatus.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various outdoor environments; comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.
