The Director of Training provides leadership and oversight of SunCloud Health’s clinical training and professional development programs across all sites and levels of care. Serving as a senior manager, this position reports directly to the Vice President of Clinical Services in collaboration with the Director of Adult Clinical Services and Director of Adolescent Clinical Services. The Director of Training is accountable for ensuring that staff are trained, supported, and equipped to deliver the highest quality of evidence-based, trauma-informed care in alignment with SunCloud Health’s mission and values.
This individual is responsible for developing and implementing an organization-wide training plan, coordinating clinical education, and ensuring compliance with licensure and accreditation standards. The Director of Training will foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, ensuring that staff are prepared to deliver exceptional patient care while maintaining adherence to Joint Commission, SUPR, and IDFPR standards.
This person will help oversee functions at all of SunCloud's locations (Lincoln Park, Northbrook, Naperville, and Matteson).
This position requires close collaboration with the quality improvement process, data management, outcome monitoring, and the certification and recertification needs of all clinical staff at SunCloud Health.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Assures excellence in training and professional development through the operational integration of education, supervision, and compliance functions.
- Develops, organizes, and directs the annual training plan for SunCloud Health, including onboarding, continuing education, and specialty trainings.
- Designs and delivers trainings on core clinical topics such as: Trauma-informed care, Eating disorder treatment, Substance use disorder treatment (Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction, 12-step integration), Co-occurring disorders, etc
- Ensures trainings meet CEU standards and licensure requirements.
- Maintains training documentation in compliance with Joint Commission, SUPR, and IDFPR.
- Collaborates with clinical leadership to identify training needs based on quality assurance, performance data, and staff feedback.
- Supports the development and implementation of clinical protocols and workflows that align with best practices.
- Develops and oversees internship and fellowship programs in collaboration with HR and clinical leads.
- Prepares training-related documentation for audits, surveys, and accreditation reviews.
- Contributes to diversity efforts by ensuring training curriculum reflects inclusivity, equity, and cultural humility.
- Contributes to organizational operations by performing other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Nutrition, or related behavioral health field.
- Independent clinical license in Illinois (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist, Registered Dietitian (RD)).
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral healthcare, including treating eating disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical education, training, or supervision.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, SUPR, and IDFPR standards.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and therapeutic milieu programming.

- Ability to travel between SunCloud Health sites as directed and provide training across all levels of care (Residential, PHP, IOP, OP) for both adolescent and adult providers.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
