Series OS Board of Advisors | Equity-Based | Remote

About Series OS

Series OS is a founder-readiness and funding strategy platform that helps entrepreneurs become better positioned for grants, investors, government contracts, accelerators, loans and other capital opportunities.

Through business assessments, document development, financial planning, funding strategy and founder preparation, Series OS helps clients understand what type of funding is appropriate for their business, what gaps must be addressed and what steps they need to take before approaching funders.

Series OS is building a Board of Advisors made up of experienced professionals who can help strengthen the company’s methodology while also providing strategic insight that supports the founders and businesses served through the platform.

Position Overview

Series OS is seeking an experienced Venture Capital and Funding Strategy Advisor to join its Board of Advisors.

This advisor will help Series OS evaluate and improve the funding strategies developed for its clients. The ideal candidate understands that not every business is ready for venture capital and can help determine whether a founder should pursue investors, grants, loans, government contracts, accelerators, strategic partnerships, revenue growth or another capital pathway.

The advisor will also provide strategic guidance to Series OS as the company strengthens its founder-readiness process, funding methodology, investor network and service offerings.

This is an equity-based, non-employee advisory position. It is not a Board of Directors position and does not include fiduciary authority or daily operational responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities

The Venture Capital and Funding Strategy Advisor will:

  • Advise Series OS on how to properly position clients for funding.
  • Help evaluate whether clients are appropriate candidates for venture capital, angel investment or other equity funding.
  • Identify when a client should focus on revenue, customer acquisition or business development before pursuing outside capital.
  • Provide guidance on alternative funding pathways, including grants, loans, accelerators, strategic partnerships and non-dilutive capital.
  • Review selected client pitch decks, financial projections, use-of-funds plans and funding strategies.
  • Help Series OS identify weaknesses that could prevent a client from receiving funding.
  • Provide insight into what investors expect from early-stage companies.
  • Help improve the Series OS founder-readiness scoring and assessment process.
  • Advise on how different industries, stages and business models should be evaluated.
  • Help Series OS avoid pushing founders toward funding paths that are unrealistic or inappropriate.
  • Participate in occasional client strategy reviews involving high-potential or complex businesses.
  • Provide feedback on how Series OS communicates funding readiness, risks and expectations to clients.
  • Help establish standards for determining when a founder is ready to approach investors.
  • Advise Series OS on its own growth, fundraising preparation and long-term capital strategy.
  • Make strategic introductions to investors, accelerators, partners or ecosystem leaders when appropriate.
  • Participate in quarterly Board of Advisors meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding Series OS and its clients.

Client Advisory Focus

A major part of this advisory role is helping Series OS guide clients in the right direction.

The advisor may be asked to provide strategic insight on questions such as:

  • Is this company actually venture-backable?
  • Is the founder ready to raise capital?
  • Should the business pursue equity investment or non-dilutive funding?
  • Does the company need more revenue or traction first?
  • Is the requested funding amount realistic?
  • Does the business model support outside investment?
  • What milestones should the founder reach before approaching investors?
  • What weaknesses would an investor immediately identify?
  • Which funding path best fits the company’s industry, stage and goals?
  • How should the founder position the opportunity to funders?
  • Is the company seeking capital too early?
  • Would debt, grants, contracts or partnerships be more appropriate than equity?

The advisor will not be expected to work directly with every Series OS client. Instead, the advisor will provide high-level guidance, review selected cases and help Series OS strengthen its overall funding strategy framework.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate may have experience as a:

  • Venture capital partner, principal or investment professional.
  • Angel investor or angel syndicate leader.
  • Startup accelerator or incubator leader.
  • Family-office investment professional.
  • Founder who has successfully raised venture capital.
  • Capital-readiness or fundraising strategist.
  • Investment committee member.
  • Startup ecosystem or economic-development leader.
  • Advisor to early-stage businesses across multiple industries.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates should have:

  • At least 10 years of experience in venture capital, startup investing, fundraising, entrepreneurship or capital strategy.
  • Direct experience reviewing or evaluating early-stage companies.
  • Experience determining whether businesses are suitable for investment.
  • Knowledge of pre-seed, seed and Series A fundraising.
  • Experience reviewing pitch decks, financial models, market opportunities and use-of-funds plans.
  • An understanding of both equity and non-equity funding pathways.
  • The ability to evaluate companies across different industries and stages.
  • Experience advising founders who are still developing revenue, traction or operational readiness.
  • A strong understanding of what makes a company fundable versus simply having a good idea.
  • The ability to provide honest, practical and constructive feedback.
  • A commitment to helping founders pursue realistic and responsible growth strategies.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to protect confidential client information.

Experience supporting underrepresented, underestimated or first-time founders is strongly preferred.

Expected Contributions

The advisor may be asked to:

  • Participate in quarterly advisory meetings.
  • Review selected client cases or funding strategies.
  • Provide strategic feedback on complex or high-potential client opportunities.
  • Help Series OS create stronger funding-readiness standards.
  • Review and improve funding assessment questions.
  • Help create internal guidelines for matching clients with funding pathways.

  • Assist with mock investor reviews or pitch evaluations.
  • Identify patterns in why founders are rejected by investors.
  • Help Series OS improve how it prepares clients for due diligence.
  • Provide insight into investor expectations across industries.
  • Advise Series OS leadership on the company’s own growth and fundraising strategy.

  • Time Commitment

    The expected commitment is approximately:

    • One 60- to 90-minute Board of Advisors meeting per quarter.
    • One strategy session per month, when needed.
    • Occasional review of selected client or company materials.
    • Approximately two to four hours per month.

The advisor will not be responsible for daily client management, sales calls or operational work.

    • Formal company approval.
    • A signed advisory agreement.
    • A defined vesting schedule.
    • Continued active participation.
    • Confidentiality and intellectual-property provisions.
    • Applicable corporate, tax and securities requirements.

Series OS may use an initial evaluation period before finalizing a long-term equity arrangement.
