Serological Research Institute is seeking a candidate to fill our Evidence Technician position.
Position Summary
The Evidence Technician is responsible for all aspects of evidence handling, reagent quality control, laboratory equipment maintenance, and assisting in the daily operation of our forensic biology laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Handle evidence intake and release, ensuring chain of custody integrity via shipment and in-person transfers
• Conduct periodic audits of the Evidence Room to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory quality control tests
• Conduct performance checks on laboratory equipment
• Decontamination and autoclaving of laboratory supplies and equipment
• Prepare biohazard waste for disposal
• Maintain and restock laboratory supplies
Skills
• Basic computer skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office™
• Basic principles and practices of chemistry and/or biology related to laboratory work
• Familiarity with laboratory and safety protocols
• Ability to follow detailed technical instructions
• Precise, accurate record keeping
• Competency in the metric system of measurement
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and security with regards to sensitive evidence and materials.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisors
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of college-level biology and chemistry courses. Read, write, and speak fluent English.

Career experience working in a professional environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals including law enforcement personnel. Mature-minded, reliable, meticulous. The ability to work in both a team environment and independently. Efficiently manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities.
