Job Description: Executive Director
Reports to: Board of Directors
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive director is responsible for the overall administration and management of Serenity Village including business operations, patient care, fundraising, human resources, and fund development. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel, volunteer, and fiscal management, public relations, board development, and patient care. This is a full-time, exempt position, hired by and directly accountable to the board through its elected board president.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include the following, and other duties as assigned:
- Clarifies and communicates the organization’s mission, vision, goals and strategies.
- Plans, develops and establishes policies and objectives of Serenity Village in accordance with Board directives, articles of incorporation, and by-laws.
- Directs day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Directs all organizational communications, scheduling, task tracking, reporting, programs and services.
- Supervises and assists with patient care.
- Coordinates patient home visits and hospice team communications.
- Responsible for completion and maintenance of all patient care plans, paperwork, and consultations with families and hospice teams.
- Daily management of staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Acts with integrity, fairness, and promotes a positive public image and workplace environment.
- Provides administrative, consultative, and strategic support to the board of directors and the subcommittees which will facilitate efficient implementation of the strategic plan.
- Attends board meeting and maintains master files.
- Assist in identifying potential members to the board as well as needed qualifications of potential members.
- Assists in the continuous planning activities of the board supporting the strategic plan and direction.
- Works closely with the board to develop and implement fundraising and fund development strategies which will support the strategic plan, goals, mission and budget of Serenity Village.
- Manages all financial operations, systems, databases, tax filings, payroll management, audits, budgets, grants, special events, and fundraising.
- Develops and maintains procedures manual for all major systems, programs, events and services of Serenity Village.
- Interviews, hires, trains, directs, and aligns staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Performs annual and periodic performance reviews for staff
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with at least three years related management experience.
- Highly motivated individual who is a self-starter and able to motivate others.
- Proficient in computer skills and document development.
- Experience in fundraising & development work.
- Experience working with a board of directors.
- Strong relationship-builder with a proven ability to establish ongoing relationships in the community and among professionals who work with the organization.
- Possess a management style that is inclusive, recognizing and valuing the critical role of volunteers in the efforts of the organization.
- Experience in managing operations and budgeting.
- Experience in hospice and medical services preferred.
