Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves assisting residents in their daily activities within a supportive environment, promoting independence, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care and possess relevant experience in home and community care settings.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and observe patients for changes in behavior or health status, ensuring safety at all times
- Administer medications and document medication administration accurately following HIPAA guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with care plans
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices to safely transfer residents
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care, ensuring a secure environment
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid, and other emergency procedures
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer's care is highly desirable
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required or must be obtained upon hire
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with transfers using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment
- Strong observational skills for patient safety and health monitoring
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
