Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Serenity Ranch Recovery, a residential substance abuse inpatient program. We are looking to fill the Monday-Wednesday nigh shift position.
The LPN will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to individuals undergoing detoxification and treatment for substance use disorders. This position involves conducting assessments, overseeing detox patients, coordinating with healthcare providers, and administering medications in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay, including withdrawal scoring assessments (e.g., CIWA, COWS) to evaluate the severity of withdrawal symptoms.
- Detox Oversight: Monitor and oversee detox patients, ensuring their safety and comfort during the withdrawal process. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the detoxification process.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and state regulations. Monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness of medications, documenting observations accurately.
- Coordination with Providers: Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Communicate any changes in patient condition or concerns promptly.
- Patient Education: Educate patients about their treatment plans, medication regimens, and coping strategies for recovery. Facilitate group discussions and provide resources for ongoing support.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, medication administration, and progress notes in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to medical emergencies and behavioral crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nursing staff, counselors, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide holistic care and support for patients in recovery.
Qualifications:
- Current LPN license in Kentucky.
- Previous experience in a substance abuse or mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, detoxification processes, and withdrawal management.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with patient care.
Work Environment:
- This position may involve exposure to challenging behaviors and emotional situations. The LPN will work in a supportive team environment focused on patient recovery and well-being.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
