About the Role
Serenity Lane is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Controller to join our leadership team. The Controller plays a vital role in supporting our mission to provide compassionate, effective treatment for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.
As a key financial leader, you’ll oversee all accounting operations—including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, and Financial Reporting—while ensuring compliance, transparency, and fiscal health across the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will provide financial insights that drive strategic decisions and help sustain Serenity Lane’s long-term growth and impact.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and statements for leadership.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Oversee revenue cycle operations, including billing, claims, and collections.
- Partner with the CFO and department leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational strategy and decision-making.
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled in problem-solving and process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and financial systems.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (required).
- 3 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role (required).
- Nonprofit and/or healthcare experience (preferred)
- CPA license (preferred).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen (Serenity Lane is a Cannabis THC-free workplace)
