What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Aide position at Serenity House of Clallam County?
Our Shelter Aide works to maintain the daily safety, sanitation, and well-being of Night-By-Night shelter clients. This position requires ability to maintain security and safety of staff and clients by determining potential issues and proactively checking on the homeless clients while maintaining a calm demeanor. Ensure shelter guidelines are followed by staff and clients fairly. Asist in dinner service, health checks and documenting entry to programs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
· Ability to be responsive to clients who are in crisis.
· Process forms for orientation
· Drive 12 passenger van Assist client with basic needs and access, by referrals, to appropriate “wrap-around” services such as referrals to doctors, dentists, VA clinic, counseling, etc.
· Respond to client and/or building emergencies and initiate action as necessary
· Perform wellness and safety checks on clients as needed.
· Respond to client complaints and conflicts with other tenants as needed
· Check clients in and out and maintain daily log and incident reports update data base
· Answer telephones, make emergency calls and take messages, implement emergency protocol.
· Participate in staff meetings and training
· Ensure safety of the building (monitors outside door, regulates admissions) and performs safety checks on clients monitors security systems provide dvr tapes to policy
· Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards of the public areas and the sleeping rooms
· Other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma/GED
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift maximum of 50 lbs.
· First Aid/CPR desired to be completed 1 6 months of employment
· Experience in working with homelessness, mental health, addiction, and/or recovery preferred
· Peer Counselor or Mentor certification is highly desired
· Computer Skills intermediate
· Valid Washington Driver’s License/or Photo ID
· Ability to pass criminal background check
· Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
· Possess basic computer skills
· Ability to be a team player, operate in the best interest of clients
