What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mid-Level Designer/Drafter - (Charleston, SC) position at Serco North America?
Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for various contracts designing shore based Electronic Security Systems. Our team designs systems within the ESS umbrella: access control systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), and others to assist in providing physical security systems to US Navy shore facilities.
You will be part of a team of engineers, designers and drafters that work closely with project managers, installers and other teams to deliver quality technical drawings.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer your Secret Clearance
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop and evaluate technical drawings for ESS systems.
- Responsible to design or aid in design of ESS related systems.
- Construct block wiring diagrams and circuit diagrams from limited information.
- Maintain SIPH Compliance for USN Shoreside Installations.
- Perform self QA reviews and perform QA reviews of junior staff’s drawings.
- Use Dynamic Blocks and tables in engineering drawings.
- May draft and design a range of products.
- Have knowledge of common engineering concepts, practices and procedures.

Associates Degree
- Or a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 7 years of professional experience creating drawings with AutoCad
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience creating drawings with AutoCad
- Minimum 3 years of experience with a DoD contractor preparing SIPH related NIWC IDPs
- Experience in creating Department of Defense drawings

Ability to travel up to 25%
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid passport within 30 days of employment
- Exceptional knowledge of ESS Systems and Design
- Experience in US Navy Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH 4.1 or newer)
- Experience in the defense industry
- Experience in creating ESS drawings
- Prior knowledge of ESS, ACS, IDS
In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $67,889.77 to $113,149.62; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
