The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth largest transportation system in the United States, with a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail serving a 2,200 square mile service region.
We are currently seeking a Revenue Attendant (9121) in the Finance/Revenue Operations.
SEPTA currently requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination at their pre-employment medical appointment.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Transport Revenue and Revenue Collection Equipment to and from internal and external sales locations. Transport Revenue and Revenue Collection Equipment to and from Fare Vending Devices (FVD’s) in a safe and secure manner. Service all Fare Vending Devices with the goal of keeping the unit in Full Service operating order for the passengers. Collect and Process Bus Farebox Revenue in accordance with established procedures. Ensure the procedures and standards of quality control programs are enforced and followed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Services New Payment Technology Fare Vending Devices (FVD) and collection equipment throughout SEPTA’s boundaries.
- Services and troubleshoots PPS (Pay Parking System) in all Regional Rail Parking Lots.
- Troubleshoots Fare Vending Devices, and coordinates necessary maintenance with appropriate departments.
- Maintains accurate account of all equipment by utilizing tracking sheets, waybills, and equipment exchange receipts.
- Closes out alerts, reassigned jobs, and incidents using GSM (Global Service Manager).
- Schedules FVD servicing schedules by utilizing crystal reports, reconciliation reports, and MCC data.
- Monitors GSM for any defective equipment.
- Inputs Fare Vending Device (FVD’s) waybills into the Revenue Collections propriety database to track revenue equipment that was inserted and removed.
- Communicates, plans, and executes the movement of FVD units, Safes and other Fare Vending Equipment, with various departments, throughout the SEPTA system.
- Checks Fare Vending Devices for Skimming Devices. Prevents or deters criminal attacks against point of sale devices and infrastructures by identifying any skimming or tampering to equipment or terminals.
- Supports Special events by managing the New Payment Technology (NPT) Mobile Fare Kiosk Truck.
- Obtains knowledge of all mechanical and electrical devices in order to operate and service the NPT truck.
- Assists in the hand collection of fares at special events. Documents all collected revenue to maintain accurate reports.
- Assists SEPTA Transportation Management and Police with special events pertaining to platform safety and crowd control at various locations.
- Assists Revenue Operations in the selling of key cards and DSM (Disposable Smart Media) at special events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Revenue environment involving the handling, transport, collection or processing of bulk revenue required.
- Must possess ACT 235 Lethal Weapons Certification.
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record. Within candidates first ninety (90) days of employment, candidate must obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Position requires repeated lifting and carrying of canisters weighing up to 50 pounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
