The Seppic Inc site, opened in 2020, is located near Richmond, Virginia, USA. The plant specializes in producing ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. It has enhanced our proximity to our North American customers and increased our manufacturing capabilities worldwide.
Its overall concept was designed to incorporate the highest levels of manufacturing quality for cosmetic and pharmaceutical ingredients. All of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are integrated at the product flow level as well as at the individual flow level. The units, all outfitted with a self-cleaning system, are fully automated for consistent and easily traceable quality.
The plant has been designed with a minimal-waste or emission objective. The best available techniques were used to reduce waste and emissions to a strict minimum at their origin. The principles of recycling have been systematically adopted and final discharge treatment systems have been installed at the vent and waste-water levels to ensure there is minimal impact on the environment.
The facility has obtained ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI and RSPO certification.

The manufacturing shift supervisor works in a team environment and supervises a team of manufacturing operators/technicians to produce cosmetic ingredients according to the manufacturing schedule. Attention and adherence to safety and quality standards are requirements of this position, as this person and his/her team will be in (indirect) contact with process chemicals and final product.
Essential Functions
Supervises team of chemical technicians in the production of cosmetic ingredients
Ensures chemical technicians are properly trained before they work independently
Develops thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment operation
Reports and reacts to any manufacturing deviation or safety incidents in a timely manner
Enter transactions into the company’s MRP system
Approves work permits for maintenance tasks
Works with his/her team to prepare and schedule equipment for maintenance
Works with logistics team to coordinate raw material and finished product requests
Participates in passdown meeting with previous shift supervisor
Leads daily meeting with his/her team to review priorities
Ensures his/her team is using Good Manufacturing Practices in their daily work
Ensures manufacturing documentation is completed in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and other Polykon Quality Standards
Ensures good housekeeping in the manufacturing facility with his/her team
Assists chemical technicians with analyzing results from in-process samples to ensure batches are in specification
Ensures equipment cleaning procedures have been executed correctly and that his/her team understand the importance of proper and thorough cleaning
Recommends improvements to manufacturing methods
Serves as the headcount coordinator for his/her shift
Serves as the site point of contact for safety, environmental, and quality issues that arise during their shift, and escalates issues appropriately
Participates in root cause investigations and 6S studies

Additional PPE (ear plugs, face shields, respirators, gloves, boots, and aprons) may be required for certain manufacturing tasks
Manufacturing facility is clean, well lit, and ventilated. Air conditioning is available in office areas
Manufacturing area is electrically classified (potential for explosive atmosphere)
No cell phones are allowed in the manufacturing facility
Medical evaluations may be required for certain manufacturing tasks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires operators to work in a manufacturing environment (identified above) with the following demands. Operators / chemical technicians must be able to:
Periods of sitting in front of computers
Reading and validating information in production documentation
Frequent walking and climbing stairs from control room to manufacturing areas during production of batches
Operate with good hygiene practices and have good personal hygiene
Periodically may need to perform tasks assigned to chemical technicians
EDUCATION
Completion of a degree/certification program in manufacturing technology (preferred)
5 years of supervision in a chemical process industry or
10 years of supervision in an industrial process industry (non-chemical process)
