As the Materials Lead you will be responsible for supervising and guiding a team of materials specialists to ensure efficient receipt, distribution, staging, and tracking of fabricated and purchased components. This role provides leadership in inventory management, job bin/cart organization, and material flow across the production floor. The Materials Lead partners with purchasing, engineering, and assembly teams to maintain accuracy, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness in materials handling, while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee receipt and distribution of fabricated and purchased components to production floor or job carts, ensuring conformance to purchase orders.
  • Direct issuance of materials to machines as prioritized by area supervisors.
  • Manage preparation of fabricated parts for outside finishing, including purchase order creation.
  • Ensure accurate placement of received materials into inventory locations, job bins/carts, or designated factory floor areas.
  • Initiate and oversee job bins/carts for each project, ensuring proper signage, staging, and maintenance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct and supervise periodic inventories, lead participation in annual inventory programs.
  • Communicate replenishment needs to purchasing and ensure timely restocking of materials.
  • Review shop drawings with team to confirm receipt of proper parts.
  • Oversee receipt of finished goods from production departments and ensure proper staging for shipment.
  • Respond to assembly personnel requests for part status information and verify short sheets before assembly starts.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures while promoting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • High School diploma or GED required; additional technical or leadership training preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in materials coordination or warehouse operations
  • General knowledge of warehouse procedures and manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Syteline preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, resolve issues, and maintain positive vendor/employee relationships.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
