What are the responsibilities and job description for the Claims Representative Specialist – Tort position at Sentry Insurance?

What You’ll Do:
Our Claims Representative Specialists in non-standard auto ensure the delivery of quality claims service to our customers and other parties to a claim while protecting the assets of Sentry. You’ll do this through:
Verification of coverage by interpreting the insurance contract with investigation of the facts and existing laws
Gathering facts by contacting involved parties to determine legal responsibility and damage causation
Documenting investigative facts within our claims system in compliance company standards and regulatory law
Deciding claim value based upon factual investigation, damages, causation and application of the law
Strategizing with defense bar to defend our policyholders in business related liability exposures
Negotiating claim settlements with claimants and their legal representatives
Working with an experienced claim management team who assists with skill development and works with you in developing your professional career path
What it Takes:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
5 years of related work experience
Background handling non-standard auto claims considered beneficial
Prior experience with large exposure catastrophic type injuries
Background in handling a heavy caseload of litigated files
High level of understanding of insurance policies and coverage, claim procedures and familiarity with medical and legal terminology
Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to make sound decisions while using good judgment in evaluating claims
High level of computer skills
