Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and dependable Unarmed Security Supervisor to oversee security operations throughout the Downtown Norfolk Central Business District. This is a roving vehicle patrol position responsible for supervising officers, conducting site inspections, responding to incidents, and maintaining security coverage across multiple commercial properties.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their shift operating a company security vehicle while traveling between assigned locations, ensuring officers are performing their duties and client expectations are being met.
Shift
Monday-Friday 6:30am-2:30pm
Duties
- Report to your assigned worksite on time.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Respond to complaints and disturbances.
- Conduct regular patrols and ensure all scan points are checked during rounds.
- Report and document all incidents that occur on the premises.
- Maintain situational awareness and readiness to respond to potential security threats.
- Access control.
- Parking enforcement.
- Crime prevention.
- Surveillance.
- Alarm response
Responsibilities
- Patrol multiple client properties using a company security vehicle
- Supervise security officers and provide leadership during assigned shifts
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks
- Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations
- Complete detailed incident, accident, and activity reports
- Ensure compliance with post orders, company policies, and client requirements
- Assist with training and mentoring new officers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for officers in the field
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, tenants, and visitors
- Investigate complaints and security concerns
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel when necessary
- Assist with staffing shortages and operational needs
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Virginia Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate a patrol vehicle safely and professionally
- Minimum 2 years of security experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising multiple locations or personnel
- Military, law enforcement, or security management experience
- CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
- Experience in commercial or corporate security environments
