Unarmed Security Officer- Residential

MUST HAVE A VALID DCJS LICENSE TO BE CONSIDERED

Job Summary

We are seeking professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented Unarmed Residential Security Officers to join our team. Officers will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, and property while providing exceptional customer service. This position requires strong observation skills, professionalism, and the ability to respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Patrol residential communities on foot and/or in a security vehicle.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas.
• Control access to the property and verify visitor credentials when required.
• Respond to resident concerns, disturbances, and security-related incidents.
• Complete detailed daily activity reports and incident reports.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations.
• Conduct property inspections and security checks.
• Assist emergency responders when necessary.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Provide outstanding customer service to residents, guests, and management.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer Registration or be eligible to obtain one.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (for vehicle patrol positions).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
• Previous security, military, law enforcement, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to patrol residential communities in various weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs and perform routine patrols.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules
• Thoroughly examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure proper function and security
• Warn violators of premise rules and regulations
• Apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
• Report any facility issues such as fire hazards and leaking water pipes
• Request emergency personnel for high risk situations

Qualifications:

• An Active DCJS Unarmed Private Security License is required
• Required 2 years of prior security, military, law enforcement, or corrections experience
• Must be capable of meeting physical requirements such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, running, physically restraining a violent person, lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Strong attention to detail
• First Aid and CPR/AED certified
