QA/QC Assistant – Wind Tower Wiring
Onsite at the Highland Wind Project — Primghar, Iowa.
Ground-based role — NO CLIMBING required.
Full-time for the duration of the project, with scheduling flexibility available.
$20/hour. Ideal for students currently enrolled in an electrical trade program or engineering degree.
Per diem is available for those who qualify.
Sentry Electrical Group, Inc. is a specialty contractor in renewable energy (wind and solar). We are looking for a QA/QC Assistant to support our onsite quality lead at the Highland Wind Project in Primghar, Iowa.
This is a hands-on, ground-level role — all work is performed at the tower base, with no climbing involved. Working alongside our quality lead, you will be trained on what to look for and will focus on documenting, photographing, and reporting on tower wiring installations. You will help capture the records and assemble the quality reports delivered to our client. It is a strong fit for a student who wants real field experience applying classroom electrical knowledge to live renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Document, photograph, and report on tower wiring installations at the turbine base, including conduit, T-bodies/terminations, and wiring.
- Learn and apply project-specific quality criteria — you will be trained on what to inspect and report.
- Complete QA/QC forms and checklists digitally and accurately.
- Help compile, organize, and format the quality reports provided to our client.
- Flag discrepancies or incomplete items to the QA/QC lead for follow-up.
- Maintain accurate, well-organized records and documentation.
- Closely follow all site safety standards and procedures.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an electrical trade program, engineering degree, or a related field of study.
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort completing QA/QC forms digitally.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- No prior professional experience required — full on-the-job training provided.
Additional Required Abilities
- Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English.
- Comfortable working outdoors at an active wind project site in variable weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and bend for periods of time at ground level.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
- A strong field of vision, including the ability to distinguish colors.
