What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Engineer position at Sentinel Real Estate?
Commercial Building Engineers are responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing systems and equipment related to building/property operations. This includes but is not limited to mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilating, and HVAC machinery along with other tasks including plumbing, doors and locks, floors and roof systems, and structural components. Engineers shall work with building contractors to address items requiring outside skills and shall be able to run the building while the Chief Engineer is offsite.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quality maintenance support of the facility, mechanicals, and equipment.
- Complete all tasks in compliance with company policies in a safe and professional manner.
- Assess all building structures, systems, and grounds throughout the property and supervise or perform the required maintenance, repair and replacement of those items as necessary.
- Walk the property daily noting the appearance, deficiencies, and general cleanliness of all building common areas including but not limited to stairwells, breezeways, common hallways, and amenity areas.
- Maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies, materials and equipment needed to service and maintain the property; and developing sources for all necessary equipment and supplies required by the property.
- Monitor and respond to tenant requests/tickets in a timely and professional manner to provide quality outcomes and customer service to building tenants.
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems on a set schedule as determined by the Chief Engineer and all applicable documentation as needed.
- Complete all required Company assigned training courses and HR requirements as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering and building systems, trade licenses and certifications desired.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, installing and repairing equipment.
- Must meet the requirements of the occupation such as lifting 50 lbs., walking distances, kneeling for 1 hour, and climbing 12 ft. ladders without assistance.
- Ability to work independently while responding to on-call and afterhours without assistance.
- Must successfully complete background check and drug test, and have reliable transportation.
