The Purpose of Your Role:
Do you want to help advisors and employers make employer sponsored retirement plans easier, more effective, and more valuable for their people?

We are seeking a relationship-driven Internal Retirement Plan Wholesaler to support the growth of Sentinel Group’s retirement-plan business. In this role, you will partner closely with external wholesalers to develop advisor relationships and support new-business opportunities.

You will serve as a trusted resource for retirement plan advisors by helping them understand Sentinel’s retirement-plan capabilities, including open-architecture recordkeeping and administration, participant education, and applicable fiduciary-support services. You will help qualify opportunities, coordinate proposals and presentations, respond to advisor questions, maintain accurate pipeline information, and guide opportunities through the sales process toward a smooth handoff to implementation and service teams.

Ultimately, you will help Sentinel deliver personalized retirement-plan solutions that are easy for advisors, employers, and their employees. Sentinel’s advisor-partner model emphasizes customized plan design, in-house service, open architecture, and collaboration with advisors throughout the plan lifecycle.

What you’ll bring to Sentinel:
  • Curiosity about the retirement-plan industry and a commitment to ongoing learning.
  • A strong work ethic with a focus on goal achievement.
  • Excellent communication skills, including great listening.
  • Strong organization and follow-through across multiple opportunities, deadlines, stakeholders, and follow-up commitments.
  • A consultative, people-first approach to business development and relationship management.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with retirement plan advisors, territory based external sales team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Professional judgment and a high standard of accuracy, confidentiality, compliance, and client service.
What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Partner with external wholesalers to support territory growth plans, advisor relationships, prospecting, and new-business development.
  • Serve as a responsive day-to-day resource for retirement plan advisors.
  • Conduct proactive outreach and follow-up through phone, email, virtual meetings, conferences, and other approved business-development activities.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding the prospect’s organization, employee population, current provider, plan assets, plan design, advisor relationship, business objectives, buying process, timeline, and decision-makers.
  • Explain the mechanics and benefits of Sentinel’s applicable retirement-plan solutions, including Defined Contribution plan recordkeeping and administration, participant education, and fiduciary-support services.
  • Gather and organize plan information for proposals, RFPs, finalist presentations, pricing requests, plan comparisons, and implementation planning.
  • Prepare or coordinate proposals, illustrations, presentations, follow-up communications, and other sales-enablement materials.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, process-improvement initiatives, and other projects supporting retirement-plan growth.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
About you:
We are looking for a relationship-oriented professional who has the drive, judgment, and communication skills to help advisors and internal partners succeed. You are comfortable building relationships, asking thoughtful questions, managing details, and moving opportunities forward in a collaborative environment.
The retirement-plan industry is continually evolving, and we want someone who is flexible, curious, and willing to embrace change. You are able to balance commercial goals with accuracy, compliance, and a strong commitment to client and participant outcomes.

What you need to have:
  • Three or more years of experience in financial services or a related field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with financial professionals and business stakeholders.
  • Consultative sales and relationship-management skills, including comfort with proactive outreach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and experience using a CRM such as Salesforce.
  • Excellent research, organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to follow Sentinel policies and applicable compliance, privacy, information-security, securities, insurance, ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor requirements.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience as an internal wholesaler supporting territory based external wholesaler(s).
  • Experience working with employer sponsored retirement plans.
  • Industry credential or designation such as ASPPA, NAPA, AIF, CRPC, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, service-oriented organization where the sales process includes a formal implementation handoff.
Nice to haves:
  • Experience with retirement-plan proposal tools, Salesforce reporting, or other sales analytics platforms.
  • Experience presenting retirement-plan concepts to advisor groups, employer decision-makers, or internal teams.
  • Familiarity with payroll integrations, plan conversions, investment mapping, participant engagement, or financial-wellness programs.
  • Experience working with open-architecture retirement-plan platforms.
  • Knowledge of current retirement-plan legislation and industry developments, including SECURE 2.0-related topics.
