Location: Norfolk General Hospital
Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
Shift: Rotating
Hours: 6am-11pm (occasional overnight coverage)
Weekends: Every Other Weekend
Holiday Rotation
The Pharmacy Tech Trainee performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
- Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program and certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required.
- Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Certification/Licensure
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech Trainee License (Required)
