What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Practice Provider- Neurology position at Sentara?
Sentara Medical Group is seeking a motivated and compassionate APP to join the Neurology Clinic at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, supporting a specialized subspecialty headache team. This collaborative role is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Prior APP and Epic experience is strongly preferred; interest in headache medicine is required.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient care for headache patients, including detailed history and physical examinations.
Formulate an assessment and treatment plan, including ordering and interpreting imaging or other diagnostics.
Oversee patient communications and care coordination through the electronic medical record, including phone calls, prescription refills, MyChart messages, and diagnostic results.
Participate in a team-based coverage model to ensure continuity of care during scheduled absences.
Inpatient Responsibilities
Participate in the neurology consult service at one of our Virginia Beach hospitals once per month for a 4-hour shift.
Collaborate with the inpatient neurology team to evaluate and manage consult patients.
Schedule & Coverage
Flexible scheduling options include either five 8-hour weekdays or four 10-hour weekdays (with Thursdays and Fridays excluded as the designated day off).
One required 4-hour inpatient weekend shift per month on Saturday (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.).
Life-Work Balance
No weekday call requirements.
Aside from the limited inpatient and weekend coverage noted above, this role is designed to support a sustainable and balanced schedule.
