Sentara Health Plans is hiring a Prevention Nurse Specialist!
This is a remote part-time position within day shift hours.
This is not a work from home role and requires onsite participation across the Hampton Roads region.
Required Qualifications:
We are seeking an engaging and mission driven health professional to deliver high-quality community and workplace wellness initiatives. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of health screenings and immunization events designed to empower individuals to take charge of their well-being.
You will conduct one-on-one preventive screenings, including blood pressure assessments and fingerstick biometric testing, while using motivational interviewing and patient centered communication to help participants understand their results and take meaningful steps toward reducing cardiovascular and lifestyle related risks.
As a trusted health partner, you’ll provide personalized guidance on key wellness topics such as tobacco cessation, adult immunizations, heart health, cancer prevention and early detection, and effective self-care practices. You will also administer seasonal influenza vaccinations in alignment with clinical standards and safety protocols.

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or multistate license (MSL))
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or non-degree RN diploma
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 5 years' experience working as a registered nurse
- Active, unrestricted driver’s license required for regional travel
- Registered Nurse (RN) License (Virginia or Multi-state MSL)
- BLS Certification
- Drivers License: Unrestricted/active, required for regional travel
- Experience in community nursing
- Experience in health prevention and/or health education
- Experience providing care to patients with diabetes or cardiac risk factors
