Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Application Engineer that will provide direct technical application support to customers to develop new business opportunities related to sensors and sensing systems. The incumbent will lead the coordination, analysis, and communication of information from customers, sales, and management, while also identifying and evaluating sensor technologies to meet customer needs.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide technical application support to customers and the outside sales organization, including identifying solutions, compiling technical information, and preparing test reports to meet project requirements.
• Travel to customer locations to deliver on-site support for existing business while developing new business opportunities.
• Evaluate current and emerging sensor technologies from an applications perspective to understand advantages and limitations. Identify applicable sensor technologies to satisfy customer needs.
• Stay up to date with emerging industry trends, new market opportunities, and competitive technological advancements.
• Participate in customer visits, prepare presentation materials, and develop strategic account relationships.
• Develop product conceptual designs and proposals for customer application viability.
• Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to develop the most effective customized solution(s).
• Evaluate and recommend product improvements and/or cost reductions to improve Sensience competitiveness, quality and customer satisfaction.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of two years of experience with packaged sensor solutions.
• Experience in applying high temperature sensors (i.e., NTC, RTD’s, Thermocouples) and a strong understanding of signal conditioning a plus.
• Project management experience with the ability to plan, track, and execute an application development opportunity.
• Ability to professionally present proposals and communicate design solutions to internal and external key stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.
