I. ROLE PURPOSE
The Benefits Specialist administers and supports health, welfare, and leave programs for 750 employees across six locations nationally. This role is the primary point of contact for employees on benefits enrollment, claims, and leave of absence questions, and manages the operational backbone of the benefits function, from carrier reconciliation to Open Enrollment execution.
This role suits someone who combines strong process discipline with genuine care for the employee experience. You will own leave administration end-to-end (FMLA, STD, LTD, and personal leave), serve as the trusted liaison between employees, brokers, and carrier partners, and help ensure the company's benefits programs run smoothly, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, discreet with confidential information, and equally comfortable as a hands-on administrator and a responsive resource for employees during sensitive moments. This role will be based at our Morrisville, NC HQ & production facility.

Ii. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, utilization, carrier questions, claim concerns, and other benefit-related activities.
- Independently manage all leave administration, including FMLA, STD, LTD, personal leave, and non-medical leaves of absence. Respond to leave requests promptly, explain the leave process to employees, and maintain communication throughout. Ensure benefit documents are processed and maintained appropriately.
- Serve as primary point of contact for benefit communications, answering employee questions and maintaining direct relationships with the company's broker/consultant and insurance carrier contacts.
- Coordinate with Health and Safety to align Workers' Compensation claims with other leave time, as applicable.
- Serve as point person for the annual Open Enrollment process, including employee communication and maintaining the Open Enrollment session in Dayforce.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly benefit carrier statements and submit to AP in a timely manner.
- Support HR management in benefits utilization review and plan design at annual renewal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Four or more years of experience in benefit and leave administration.
- Knowledge of California leave laws preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with FMLA leave administration.
- Bilingual language skills are strongly preferred.
- Experience managing multiple health and welfare plans for a multi-state employee population of 750 lives.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to organize and prioritize work.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- HRIS experience, preferably Dayforce.
