Overview
Produce, repair, and finish precision components using manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders (cylindrical/surface). Work from blueprints, process sheets, and sketches to make high-quality parts, inspect work to tight tolerances, and collaborate with engineering as needed. This is not a CNC role.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, surface & cylindrical grinders; select tooling, speeds/feeds, and coolant to achieve tolerances.
- Perform part set-ups (incl. air hand wrenches) and run jobs independently with minimal supervision.
- Fabricate/modify/repair mechanical components, jigs, and grinding fixtures; support occasional light assembly.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages; verify against prints and quality documents; utilize CMM where applicable.
- Read/interpret blueprints & GD&T; communicate with engineers to clarify function/fit and suggest improvements.
- Maintain repeatable processes; troubleshoot issues and document results on routers/process sheets.
- Perform routine machine care; uphold 5S and all safety requirements.
- High school diploma/GED required; Associate/Certificate in Machine Tool Technology or Technical Education preferred.
- 2 years manual machining experience or completion of a machinist certificate/apprenticeship; 5-7 years manual grinding (surface & cylindrical) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Studer cylindrical and Jones & Shipman surface grinders a plus.
- Strong shop math, speeds/feeds, cutting tools, coolants, and turning/grinding procedures knowledge.
- Comfortable with CMM/quality documentation, tight-tolerance inspections, and first-article checks.
- Must provide personal hand tools and measuring instruments appropriate for general machine-shop work (company supplies specialty tools/gages).
- Safety-minded; completion of company safety orientation required. OSHA-10/NDT/FAA/H2S/WHMIS a plus.
- Able to stand ~90% of shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and work around moving machinery with required PPE.
