We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team within a fast-paced commercial door manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing engineering processes to ensure efficiency, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves planning, monitoring, and improving production processes while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and customer standards. The Engineering Manager will also lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical support across various departments. This role oversees process improvement, Quality improvement, technical support, and cross-functional collaboration with Production, Sales, and Supply Chain. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can guide technical teams, improve processes, and deliver high-quality, code-compliant commercial door solutions.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
- Set clear expectations, provide performance feedback, and support professional development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative engineering culture built on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee design, documentation, and engineering standards for commercial doors, frames, hardware integration, and related systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (NFPA, UL, ADA, fire ratings, safety codes).
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams, customers, and field personnel.
- Partner with Production to support daily manufacturing needs, troubleshoot issues, and resolve engineering-related problems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving quality, and increasing throughput.
- Ensure engineering solutions support safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate drawings, BOMs, specifications, routings, and engineering change documentation.
- Ensure consistency and quality of engineering output through structured standards and review processes.
- Work closely with Sales, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to support business goals.
- Participate in customer meetings, audits, and project reviews as needed.
- Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders on project status, timelines, and technical requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline required.
- Master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Six sigma green belt certified
- 5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, ideally within commercial doors, openings, architectural products, or building materials.
- 2 years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of fire-rated assemblies, commercial door hardware, architectural drawings, and building codes.
- Experience with 3D/2D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong decision-making, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Experience with Lean, 5S, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across departments.
