Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in the Bronx, providing essential support to individuals with diverse needs. As a PCA, you will be instrumental in promoting independence, safety, and well-being for those you serve, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care in a nurturing environment.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Provide medication administration following prescribed schedules and protocols, ensuring safety and accuracy
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status
- Support residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and memory care needs through specialized engagement and behavior management techniques
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary requirements and assist with feeding as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of resident living areas, bathrooms, and common spaces to promote hygiene and comfort
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of long-term care practices including resident’s (personal preferences), medication routines, and safety protocols
- Hands-on experience with ADL assistance, vital signs monitoring, dementia care, and behavioral management techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring direct support
