Elmore Place is seeking a creative and energetic Alzheimer’s and Dementia Activity and Program Specialist to lead innovative programming for Memory Care Residents!
Responsible for providing activities designed to: maintain and improve the functional ability of assisted living and nursing care residents, keep residents healthy, improve their strength, and improve their sense of wellness and wellbeing. The Program Coordinator develops and leads programs that represent our Senior Star Seven Areas of Wellness: Brain Power, Exercise & Movement, Expression, Inner Strength, Nourishment & Health, Socialization, Spirituality.

Responsible for providing activities designed to: maintain and improve the functional ability of assisted living and nursing care residents, keep residents healthy, improve their strength, and improve their sense of wellness and wellbeing. Essential Functions
- Strong desire to improve the lives of seniors living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
- Coordinates programs and activities that motivate and involve residents in a healthy lifestyle in accordance with the Senior Star Wellness Philosophy.
- Creates and promotes monthly activity calendars and newsletter for each community.
- Provides supplies and opportunities to support residents in meaningful activities.
- Decorates the community for holidays, activities, and events; shopping for supplies and decorations as necessary.
- Responsible for assisting leasing and marketing by scheduling open houses and special events to increase awareness in the community.
- Provides wellness support of residents by developing supportive relationships with residents and their families and assists with resident transition and acclimation programs.
- Coordinates volunteer programs in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
- Experience and “knack” for working with people living with dementia.
- Ability to think creatively and outside the box in order to lead existing Senior Star Signature Programs, and bring to life new programming ideas.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Tech-savvy or a very quick learner for all things technology, as Senior Star utilizes an innovative resident engagement and activity tracking that requires use of the computer and app throughout each day.
- One or more dementia care certifications, such as: Dementia Capable Care, Best Friends Approach, Positive Approach to Care, Dementia Care Practitioner, Opening Minds through Art (OMA), etc.
