JOB SUMMARY:
The Personal Trainer is responsible for planning and leading fitness classes, providing personal training services, and assisting with overall wellness programming. This role includes fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience in fitness, social services, psychology, or a related area.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Personal training certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to stand, walk, and demonstrate exercises for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver fitness equipment up to 50 lbs independently, with accommodations available for heavier equipment as needed.
- Experience working with older adults preferred
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Under the supervision of the Wellness Center Manager, the Personal Trainer will:
- Conduct facility tours, new member orientations, and fitness assessments to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
- Plan, lead, and teach group fitness classes in accordance with the wellness center’s guidelines.
- Develop customized workout plans based on clients’ fitness levels, goals, and special considerations (e.g., injuries, medical conditions).
- Track client progress, providing regular feedback and program adjustments as needed.
- Ensure all fitness equipment is clean, well-maintained, and used safely by members. Report any maintenance needs.
- Assist in designing and implementing fitness programs to grow wellness membership and personal training services.
- Support marketing efforts to promote fitness and wellness programs, including participation in fundraising events.
- Collaborate with the entire wellness team to achieve program goals.
- Attend meetings and training courses as required.
- Maintain certification while employed and stay current on industry trends and best practices in fitness and wellness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Wellness Center Manager
- To be a fitness professional at SSP Wellness Center you must currently hold a NCCA-accredited certification or obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- SSP will reimburse half of the fees of the certification if a certification is not already held and acquired within the first 90 days of employment. The individual is required to commit to Senior Services Plus for one year.
HOURS:
Part-Time, based on client appointments.
