Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and growth-oriented General Manager to work alongside the founder for an appropriate period of time, with the goal of assuming full responsibility for day-to-day operations thereafter. The GM will provide strategic leadership to drive our next phase of growth, expand our operations, and ensure operational excellence across all aspects of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the founder during an appropriate transition period, gaining deep operational knowledge and establishing leadership with the team.
- Develop and execute growth strategies to expand our services operations beyond our current market area. This due diligence may include identifying and opening operations in new, geographically connected as well as separated locations.
- Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, project management, customer service, and quality assurance.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of W2 employees, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management. Optimize the use of quality subcontractors and other service providers to help us serve our customer base where appropriate.
- Ensure exceptional customer experience and maintain our reputation for quality and reliability.
- Implement new and improve existing systems and processes to maximize operational efficiency and scalability.
- Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and ensure profitability.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities.
- Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to revenue growth and operational efficiency.
- Report regularly to the founder on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in operational management, preferably within a service-based or contracting business.
- Demonstrated success in scaling a service business and managing business growth.
- Proven experience leading and managing W2 employee teams.
- Proven experience leading and working with sub-contractors to help us serve our customer base.
- Ability to learn and gain knowledge of the accessibility modifications and home improvement market in general, to specifically include our current market focus of central Maryland; Harford, Baltimore Counties and Baltimore City.
- Strong business development acumen and experience expanding into new markets or service areas.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Financial management and budgeting experience.
- Experience implementing operational systems and driving process improvements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Revenue growth in existing and new service areas or other opportunities that become apparent through the ongoing operation of the business that can help fuel growth.
- Operational efficiency metrics (e.g., job completion rates, customer satisfaction, team productivity, profit margin etc.).
- Successful expansion into new geographical markets within the first 12-18 months.
