Senior Friendship Centers is seeking a dynamic Friendship at Home Coordinator for Lee County to join our mission and team! The Friendship at Home Coordinator serves Lee County Seniors by coordinating grant-funded programs, community resources, and recruiting and managing senior care volunteers. Your work will directly and positively impact seniors who need support to remain safe and independent at home.

The Friendship at Home Coordinator will serve Lee County with our core values of compassion, integrity, collaboration, and respect. This is an in-office, full-time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday position with occasional evening and weekend outreach events. Essential Functions:

 

Operational

  • Assist local seniors to help them resolve immediate issues and assist them in finding support to help prevent further problems.
  • Maintain documentation of all grant funding requests; assure appropriate authorization, distribution, and processing.
  • Input client information into database system in a timely manner.
  • Keep client files and ensure accurate and timely documentation, including monthly reports.
  • Process EHEAP referrals and applications, assuring proper documentation and data entry.
  • Recruit, interview, provide orientation and training for volunteers, conduct volunteer surveys. 
  • Maintain records of volunteer’s hours worked, match volunteer with clients for Friendly Visitor, Telephone Reassurance Callers and Supportive Interventions as needed, and may include home safety assessments.
  • Organize and maintain a current list of community resources for seniors.
  • Coordinate resources with the Elder Helpline Staff, provide outreach in the community.
  • Coordinate RELIEF funded services. Assure appropriate authorization and processing of volunteer hours and stipends as required by DOEA.
  • Coordinate monthly Food Bag program, to include ordering and organizing items, complete spending reports, submission of quarterly reports, tracking outcomes, as well as organizing and managing volunteer support to construct and deliver bags to clients in need. 
  • Remain current on all Department of Elder Affairs and all grant program guidelines, including attendance at training programs.
  • Participate in fundraising and outreach activities, including presentations and community meetings, to promote the organization’s mission. 
  • Report any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by state guidelines.
  • Must comply with HIPAA regulations and OSHA laws and safety guidelines.

Organizational:

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and seminars as required
  • Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
  • Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization's safety and incident policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Program Volunteers.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides requisite knowledge, ability, and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.   
  • Intermediate computer skills are required and include use of Microsoft Office Suite and data management.  

Physical Demands: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and prolonged periods standing.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to independently access various departments of a given location.

Travel: 

  • Must have reliable transportation. Use of personal car for evaluations may be required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid FL driver’s license for all work-related travel.  

Additional eligibility requirements:

  • Satisfactory clearance of fingerprint based level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
