Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose urgent medical conditions across a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, and exotic species.
- Perform emergency procedures such as wound management, fracture stabilization, and critical care interventions.
- Administer general anesthesia and monitor animal physiology during surgical and diagnostic procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Provide veterinary surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine treatments tailored to urgent care needs.
- Handle animal restraint and handling with confidence to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners about diagnoses, treatment options, and post-care instructions with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain detailed medical records following clinical ethical guidelines and veterinary terminology standards.
- Collaborate with team members on complex cases involving cardiology, oncology, or critical & intensive care to optimize patient outcomes.
- Support laboratory diagnostics and laboratory experience to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics while managing emergency cases efficiently.
Requirements
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven veterinary experience with a focus on emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
- Strong knowledge of animal restraint, handling techniques, and animal anatomy.
- Experience with anesthesiology—including general anesthesia—and critical care procedures.
- Familiarity with veterinary surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and aseptic techniques confidently.
- Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach to pet owners’ concerns.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and clinical ethical guidelines essential for high-quality patient care.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Additional experience with equine or laboratory animals is a plus but not required.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution.
