Job Description
The Seneca Resources Electric Transmission - Substation Engineering department is seeking an experienced engineer to join our team. As a member of the physical design team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our high-voltage electric grid.
This opportunity will involve greenfield and brownfield projects, data center related projects, and renewable generation interconnect projects. The successful candidate will be able to satisfy the following:

- Responsibilities: You'll be involved in the development of detailed design and construction review. Your focus will be on the physical design of electrical substations, both for new construction and upgrades to existing facilities.
- Engineering expertise: You'll apply your expertise in substation physical design, including creating and maintaining standard drawings for electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Independence and adaptability: You'll exercise independent judgment, evaluating and selecting engineering techniques and criteria. You'll also adapt to moderately complex challenges, making necessary modifications to achieve optimal results.
- Document review and collaboration: You'll prepare and review critical substation documents, such as one-line diagrams, general arrangements, elevations, conduit and foundation plans, cable schedules, ground grid plans, and bills of materials. Collaboration with other disciplines, including grading plan development, steel structures, and bus design, will be essential.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with electric utilities preferred.
- Thorough understanding of transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation components.
- Ability to read, interpret, and verify accuracy of one-line diagrams, relay functional drawings, elementary diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality, and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.
