Position: Utility Field Technician
Type: 6-month contract-to-hire
Pay: $21/hr
Schedule: 40 hrs/week
Worksite: On-site (St. Paul, MN) regional travel cover all of MN, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the Dakotas.
Travel: Overnight travel up to 1 week at a time (not constant)
Work Environment: Outdoor field work in all weather conditions

Top Skills / Experience (Most Important)
- Lineman / overhead distribution field experience
- GIS field data collection experience
- Strong comfort working outdoors in varying weather elements
- Power utility and telecommunications experience strongly preferred
- Joint-use experience preferred
- Collect accurate field data using paper drawings/forms and/or electronic field devices per project/client requirements
- Identify and document field items with minimal supervision
- Use and learn field technology tools (handheld data collectors, laser range finders, digital cameras, GPS receivers)
- Measure and record dimensions/conditions needed to produce complete field inventory documentation
- Record data using correct standards/symbology so office-based teams can interpret it clearly
- Meet productivity targets and support project milestones/deliverables
- Follow Pike safety practices and actively participate in safety initiatives
- May assist with storm/natural disaster restoration efforts (e.g., driver, wire sitter, runner)
- Work effectively as part of a 2-person field team
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Self-motivated; able to work independently
- Team-oriented and customer-focused
- Able to manage multiple tasks; may assist with training new team members
- Comfortable working outside for extended periods
- Rental vehicle for work travel
- Candidates must have reliable transportation to meet at a central location and team up with another field tech
