Position Title: Data Engineer III
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Position Status: 12 Months Contract (potential extension or conversion)

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and repeatable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to support analytics and reporting needs
- Build and enhance data architecture aligned with enterprise data strategy and business intelligence initiatives
- Design logical data models and implement optimized physical database structures
- Develop and maintain operational data stores, data marts, and data warehouse solutions
- Ensure data quality, integrity, availability, and security across data platforms
- Support real-time and batch data processing workflows to meet business requirements
- Optimize data pipelines by improving performance, reducing complexity, and enhancing maintainability
- Partner with Data Scientists and data consumers as a trusted advisor to identify data issues and guide resolution
- Conduct design and code reviews related to databases, tables, and data warehouse architecture
- Document data flows, data access controls, data quality standards, and system dependencies
- Build and maintain reusable query libraries for recurring data and reporting requests
- Support CI/CD pipelines and Agile development processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or related roles
- Intermediate experience with data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and data processing pipelines
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and best practices
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar)
- Working knowledge of big data tools and modern data platforms
- Experience with cloud-based data environments and services
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Understanding of data security, governance, and privacy standards
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality
