What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Nurse position at Seneca Family of Agencies?

Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the Per-Diem Nurse plays a vital role in supporting youth during some of their most challenging moments. The Nurse on our team thoughtfully plans and delivers care exemplifying our core value of compassion. You will serve as a positive clinical role model, offering supportive nursing consultation and sharing expertise to strengthen and uplift the team. ABOUT VENTURA COUNTY CRISIS SERVICES

Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services program offers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide quality care, including nursing triage and assessment
    • Evaluate and chart illness and/or injuries
    • Manage physician orders and prescriptions
  • Ensure safe medication processes are followed, including: 
    • Procurement, ordering, storage, administration practices
  • Collect and analyze assessment data to formulate resident care problems and individualized outcomes
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions
  • Collaborates with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up
  • Maintain working relationship with pediatricians, specialists, psychiatrists, therapists, and hospitals who provide care to the youth
  • Provide ongoing training for staff on medications and other health-related education
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques, this may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management

 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR
    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Active California Registered Nursing License
  • CPR – BLS
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.

PREFERRED:

  • Public Health Certificate
  • Experience with pediatrics, mental health, Community Care Licensing regulations, and/or triage assessment
  • Excellent initiative, correspondence, and follow through with team
  • Great organizational skills

 

SCHEDULE

  • Per Diem; hours will vary

     

    BENEFITS

    • Starting at $54.91 - $57.41 per hour
      • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
      • Additional compensation may be provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
    • Promotional opportunities across the agency in California and Washington
