Produce Cutter/Packer Job Description:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To package produce product properly for retail display according to Company standards. To contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
NATURE AND SCOPE: Primary emphasis in this position is on meeting daily needs in properly packaging Produce product for retail display. This position requires ongoing judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills, reading, writing, moderate to heavy lifting, walking, operation of a box cutter/knife and exposure to cold temperatures and wet surfaces. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Produce Manager or person in charge provides assignments and work direction.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Perform Packaging
- Ensure correct handling, packaging and wrapping of product
- Rotate stock for freshness
- Remove spoiled/damaged product from display
- Mark down old product
- Straighten displays, builds displays
- Handle product carefully to avoid damage
- Handle all designated pull-down items in the evening
- Assist customers with questions or requests
- Take special orders
- Answer questions of product location/usage
- Answer department phone calls and questions in a timely and consistent manner
- Refer customers to the proper area or individual for help
- Follow all store and department policies and procedures
