Job Summary
The Deli Commissary Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, and labeling deli and specialty food items in a commissary (central kitchen/production facility) setting. This role plays a critical part in producing high-quality, ready-to-eat products that are distributed to our 18 retail store locations. The associate must ensure that all items meet company standards for quality, consistency, and food safety, while maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare deli items such as sandwiches, salads, sides, and entrees according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines
- Produce and assemble a variety of specialty items unique to the Sendik’s brand, ensuring consistency and quality across all 18 store locations.
- Slicing meats and cheeses using the deli slicer
- Weigh, package, price and label Deli items
- Assist with maintaining the back cooler including; rotating stock, dating and cleaning
- Maintain sanitation and temperature logs as needed
- Operate, maintain and clean deli equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, coolers and slicers
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily and weekly production goals and deadlines.
- Assist with all other Deli Department duties as needed
Work Experience
Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipment
- Eagerness to interact with customers
- Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
- Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
- Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
