Shipper/Receiver

Shipping & Receiving position.

North San Diego County Packaging Equipment Manufacturer is looking for a full-time shipping and receiving person to join our team. An ideal candidate will have experience in picking, packing and shipping of parts and machinery orders, receiving, checking, and stocking of incoming items as well as building some small part assemblies.

Job duties:

•    Accurately pick parts orders from supplied picking sheets.

•    Ensure all orders are complete and packed to minimize the risk of shipping damage.

•    Lift and pack machinery weighing up to 100 pounds (up to 150 pounds with help).

•    Operate a foam in place machine to pack medium sized equipment.

•    Accurately pull, assemble, and package parts from Bills of Materials and assembly documentation.

•    Communicate with the Production Manager for parts or shipping help needed.

•    Neatly and accurately record quantities packaged and shipping dimensions of products prepared for shipment.

•    Pre-assemble spare parts kits and shipping cartons for machines expected to ship within the next day or two.

•    Communicate (usually by email) shipping weights & dimensions to freight carriers or customers for shipping quotes or routing information of upcoming shipments.

•    Complete any required shipping documentation (BOL’s, Cert of Origin, Commercial Invoice, etc.) for both domestic and international shipments.

•    Maintain appropriate levels of shipping supplies based on daily needs and upcoming shipments.

•    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment including warehouse area.

•    Recommend any needed improvements to warehouse processes.

•    Receive material and enter receipts into computer MRP system.

•    Make subassemblies and parts for either Sales Orders or stock material.

Required skills:

•    Must be able to speak, write and clearly communicate with co-workers in English.

•    Effective people skills.

•    Ability to multitask in a challenging environment while maintaining an emphasis on safety and injury protection.

•    You must be able to lift tabletop size machinery up to 100 pounds (150 pounds with help) for packaging.

•    Must be able to stand at a workbench or packaging area for hours at a time.

•    Must be able to effectively operate in a general warehouse environment carrying and loading products. Part of the work area has A/C and part of it does not.

•    A small forklift is used occasionally so forklift certification and safe operating experience is helpful and will be expected.

•    Must be able to occasionally climb a ladder to stock or retrieve items.

•    Basic computer skills for preparing e-mail and shipping documentation. UPS & FedEx computer shipping program experience helps.

•    Must have warehouse type employment experience.

•    General working hours would be Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

•    Graduated Vacation time. 40 hrs. per year after the first 6 months, 80 hrs. per year for years 2 through 5, 120 hrs. per year for years six through 10 and then 160 hours per year after 10 years.
