Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Controls Engineering Technician to support the design, maintenance, and optimization of our automated systems. This hands-on role is part of our Automation Equipment Development Team and works closely with engineering, marketing, and production teams to ensure reliable and efficient operation of control systems across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other control systems.
  • Update and improve existing control systems including robotic programs, ladder logic, relay logic, motor controls, and operator interfaces.
  • Assist in the design and development of new machine controls (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vision systems).
  • Maintain accurate documentation including schematics, panel layouts, and program files.
  • Support Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP communications across equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve system reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in system simulation and testing activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 2 years of experience in industrial controls or automation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Unitronics).
  • Experience with HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, ProFace, C-More, Unitronics).
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to bend, lift, push, pull, and stand for prolonged periods (up to 75 lbs).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to commute to the Cincinnati headquarters regularly.
