Basic Function:
Top Duties and Qualifications A Buyer, or Purchasing Agent, is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies or equipment for a business. Their duties include negotiating deals with suppliers, researching possible item selections and taking inventory of current products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning and purchasing finished goods from external suppliers, both international and domestic, as assigned.
- Buy inventory from suppliers and negotiate, together with supply chain team and leadership, on price, lead times, packaging, and terms.
- Coordinate the deliveries of containers between shipping company and receiving team.
- Regular communication with suppliers to confirm delivery dates or changes based on adjustments in forecast made by sales.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or previous experience in purchasing, material management, or related field preferred.
- Strong experience with JD Edwards or similar MRP system.
Requirements:
- Must posses a high degree of communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and analytical skills.
- Capable of identifying issues and communicating to all necessary stakeholders in a timely manner
