What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Security Analyst position at Senate of Pennsylvania?
We are seeking a motivated Junior Information Security Analyst to join our security operations team. You will serve as a first-line defender, responsible for monitoring, triaging, and responding to security alerts across our enterprise environment. This role is highly technical and requires a hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Threat Monitoring & Triage: Monitor endpoint anomalies and investigate alerts for potential malware or unauthorized activity.
- Network Security Operations: Assist in managing Next-Generation Firewalls, including reviewing traffic logs and assisting with basic policy updates.
- Identity & Access Control: Monitor network access, troubleshoot authentication issues for wired/wireless users, and assist in endpoint profiling.
- Cloud & Campus Management: Maintain visibility into branch networking via the Cisco Dashboard and monitor network health/security events using Cisco Catalyst Center.
- Incident Response Support: Perform initial investigations into security breaches, document findings in ticketing systems, and escalate critical threats to Tier 2/3 analysts.
- Vulnerability Support: Support regular vulnerability scans and coordinate with IT teams to ensure timely patching of identified risks.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 0–5 years of experience in an IT or Security role (internships and lab experience included).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Core Knowledge:
- Foundational understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, and the OSI model.
- Familiarity with common attack vectors (Phishing, Ransomware, Brute Force).
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Certifications: CompTIA Security , Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity
- Technical Familiarity: Prior exposure to EDR, Email Security, SIEM or NAC in a lab or production environment.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
