Primary Purpose
Manage and enhance the Company’s ergonomics program and acts as the primary subject matter expert. Apply and train on ergonomic science concepts for designing, positioning and arranging so that employees can work safely and effectively. Work independently under general supervision. Provide expertise and guidance to internal clients and Safety & Health department to ensure that all social and legal responsibilities for protecting employees are met through appropriate policies, programs, recommendations and training.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Management:
- Technical Expert. Oversee company ergonomics program and assessments to evaluate potential employee exposures. Assessment includes identifying, evaluating, sampling, data gathering and analysis. Review of project plans, engineering designs for ergonomic risk factors. Support other safety and health programs, including the Injury Illness Prevention Plan, and Employee Safety Manual. Develop sound solutions to specialized technical problems.
- Presentation, Interpersonal Skills, and Conceptual Skills:
- Regulations and Compliance: Provide guidance and recommendations on litigated cases and complicated ergonomics issues. Interpret proposed and final state and federal rules, regulations, and laws to determine appropriate course of action for the company including submitting comments to regulatory agents as well as by developing appropriate programs and procedures for compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or related field. Required
- Master's degree in ergonomics, safety, or Industrial Hygiene is preferred.
- 8 years of related experience in developing, implementing, and managing ergonomics programs in industrial, field and office environments is required.
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and methods for evaluating ergonomic needs and effectiveness is required.
- Experience in energy utility is preferred.
- Written communication skills required for editing and evaluating technical materials, training presentation materials and coursework of all types.
- Project planning and management skills essential for the numerous team projects.
- Creative and conceptual skills required to grasp a myriad of ideas and problems and create solutions using theories and concepts.
- Advanced interpersonal skills needed for negotiation, counseling, leading teams, interviews, and presentations.
- Ability to apply ergonomic techniques, including analytical and regulatory knowledge.
- Ability to create and conduct presentations, including strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Ability to apply consultative and conflict management skills.
- Strong leadership skills needed.
- Ergonomics (CPE, CHFP, AEP, AHFP), Safety Professional (CSP) or Industrial Hygiene (CIH) related safety certification is required.
