Commercial Operations Manager - Houston, TX

• Acquires cost-effective wholesale energy supplies to meet load and contractual commitments.
• Coordinates with legal and finance teams on contract negotiations, term sheets, and financial settlements.
• Creates physical strategies for trading positions, transportation, and storage assets.
• Executes enterprise trading and hedging strategies, manages profitable positions across time frames and geographies, and generates revenue while managing power, renewables, and gas commodity risk.
• Leads commercial risk-management activities such as credit evaluation, hedge execution, and mitigation of market-volatility exposure.
• Negotiates and executes approved transactions to meet customer demand, optimize assets, and maintain system integrity.
• Researches electricity and natural-gas markets to understand fundamentals and inform trading strategies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

• Typically requires 8 years of related experience.

• Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyzes.
• Energy Market Analysis - Examination and evaluation of national and international regulated markets that deal specifically with the trade and supply of energy.
• Energy Trading Strategy - The strategic approach taken to trading in energy market in order to take advantage of fluctuations in price and volume when buying and selling energy commodities.
• Energy Transaction Management - Managing the purchase or sale of a specified quantity of energy at a known transaction point or through an organized market.
• Financial Modeling - Develop financial models and valuation models to arrive at a valuation conclusion.
• Financial Risk Management - Apply organizational policies and procedures to manage and control financial risks.
• Forecasting - Makes predictions of the future based on past and present data and most commonly by analysis of trends.
• P&L Management - The way in which a company handles its P&L statement through revenue and cost management.
• Scenario Planning - Scenario planning focuses on an outlook for the future. It is a method with which organizations can form an idea of possible future scenarios and how these may affect their strategic objectives.
• Trading Position Management - Management of exposure to risk when trading by aligning positions within intended trading strategies and risk parameters.
